The award-winning Lee Williams High School band program offers students avenues to perform in marching, chamber group, and concert band settings.
KUSD band programs are readily known for their tradition of musical excellence locally and across Arizona in individual & large group competitions. Band students receive instruction on proper playing techniques and heighten their understanding of the musical language through a variety of musical styles and mediums. Students perform in school concerts and compete at state festivals.
School musicians are provided opportunities to create music, relate it to cross-curricular content and evaluate musical performances outlined in the Arizona Academic Standards in the Arts. Many children find success and increased self-esteem by participating in a music program. Musical experiences enhance a child’s academic achievement, problem-solving skills and teamwork leading to lifelong success.

The Pride of the Volunteers is currently involved in a campaign to raise funds to replace our 23 year-old uniforms for the Lee Williams High School Band. Our current uniforms, which were purchased second-hand from a school in Maryland when LWHS opened, are beyond their life expectancy and beginning to show their age. Our students are currently involved in fundraising activities but we need YOUR help!
The uniform is our band’s identity and brand. We have worked with the wonderful design team at Stanbury Uniforms & Fred J. Miller to develop what we believe are modern, yet classic and sleek uniforms for our students. Drawings of the two designs we are selecting from are enclosed. The quality of these uniforms will be second to none. We anticipate this new set of uniforms to serve “The PRIDE” for another two decades.
However, purchasing new uniforms is a costly undertaking. The Lee Williams Band has no outside source of funding. As such, we depend upon the kind sponsorship and generosity of individuals and businesses to assist us in providing the best possible materials for our students. The total amount for each individual uniform is $550.00. We are asking that you, your associates, friends, or place of business to help us defray the enormous cost of this project. Every uniform sponsored takes us one step closer to supplying these kids with the uniforms they deserve!
The Pride of the Volunteers is one of the most visible ambassadors for Lee Williams High School and Kingman as a whole. Yearly, The Pride performs for home football games, community events, and marching competitions across the state. The band regularly qualifies for State level events in both the Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association and Arizona Marching Band Association Circuits. Our continuing goal is to represent our students, our community, and our region with Pride.
