Band Staff

Michael Schreiber, Band Director

Mr. Schreiber has been the KHS band director since 2010. Mr. Schreiber enjoys teaching and believes in the potential that he sees in his students and in the future success of the program. His enthusiasm and hard work were recognized in 2007 with the award of Rookie of the Year after his first year of teaching in Kingman, at Black Mountain. And, since taking the KHS band director position, he was named teacher of the year in 2015 at KHS.

Mr. Schreiber graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, where he earned two Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Music Performance. After graduation, he taught in Maryland and had the opportunity to play in Washington DC with the Georgetown Jazz Band and gigged around in his spare time.

Since returning to Arizona in 2006, Mr. Schreiber has completed a Master’s program with Boston University, started a jazz band and guitar class at Black Mountain, acheived 3rd place in the marching band state championship in 2010, 4th place in 2014, and in 2016 wind ensemble acheived a superior with distinction at the Arizona Area Concert Festival. Mr. Schreiber looks forward to continuing to share his love of music with his students here.

Nicole Elliott, Color Guard Tech and Choreographer

Ms. Elliott handles the choreography for color guard and contribute her skills in practice as well. Ms. Elliott is a graduate of KHS, where she was in color guard and served as captain. She is a current color guard member for the Academy Drum and Bugle Corp.
