The HAWK Way
- HAWK stands for honor, accountability, work ethic, and kindness
- Show these great qualities at FMS!
Phones:
- Phones need to be off and put away while on school grounds. This includes in hallways, classrooms, and during breaks
- If someone needs to contact students due to emergencies, please call the office
- Students can keep phones on the top corner of their desks or fully put away during class
- Phones being used in class without teacher permission may be taken to the office for parent pick-up
Chromebook Use:
- Students need to follow the KSD AUP (Acceptable Use Policy)
- Students are responsible for any damage to chromebooks, accidental or not
Food:
- Food and drinks need to be eaten outside of classrooms during passing times
- Sequoia has a snack break between 2nd and 3rd block where students can eat, use the restroom, etc.
- Water bottles with lids are allowed at all times (as long as they are being used appropriately in class)
Toys/Spinners:
- Spinners are not allowed unless accompanied by a doctor's note explaining that it is medically helpful
Grading Late Work:
- Team Sequoia grades late work on Thursdays
Leaving Class:
- Students are issued one sheet of hallway passes per quarter
- Any time a student leaves class, it costs one hallway passes (which must be signed by the teacher)
- Students must take a hall pass in order to be in the hallways during class time
Guest Teachers:
- Substitutes deserve the same respect that a teacher receives
- Good behavior for substitutes will earn rewards, and poor behavior for substitutes will earn lunch detention or referrals to the office
Tardies
- Students need to be in their seats or doing the bell activity in order to be considered on time
- Too many tardies can result in time made up during lunch, where students have to stay in with a teacher instead of going to lunch recess

Freedom Friday:
- If students have all their work turned in, they get to participate in Freedom Friday during advisory time on Fridays.
- Those who didn't earn Freedom Friday will stay in a classroom to work.
- Students who did earn Freedom Friday get to participate in games, activities, outdoor time, etc.
Office Referrals
- If students are struggling with misbehaviors in class, they may be referred to the office and assigned a consequence
- Office referrals can result in phone calls home, making up missed class time, in-school suspension, out of school suspension, etc.

High-Five Fridays:
- Every Friday, leave through the Sequoia hallway so we can all give you a high-five to send you into your weekend in a good mood!
Advisory Council:
- Many advisory classes on our team have a council
- Members will be elected and/or appointed
- The council will help manage advisory, plan fun activities, keep class going when the teacher is out sick, etc.
Flexible Fridays:
- Every few weeks, we will have a flexible work day during blocks 2, 3, 4, 5 and advisory
- During our flexible day, we will ignore bells and schedule our own classes, interventions, enrichments, and work time

Step 3: Check your Schoology calendar to see what happened in class for each day you missed.
Make a list of everything you you need to complete that happened while you were gone. Then get the necessary materials and start doing the work. You have 2 days per absent day to make up missed work without it being considered late.
Step 4: If you are confused, ask another classmate for help first. If you have more questions, ask your teacher during work time in class or before/after school.
Step 5: Complete that work and turn it in!
