Competition Activities
Kuna Air Force JROTC is working monthly to achieve excellence in competition. The cadets participating in March at competition will attend the after-school class for half of the year to earn their ribbons for their uniform. All cadets who won an award as a whole or by themselves at competition will receive special teams ribbon.
Drill Team Commander: C/1LT Nicholas Martinez
Armed Drill Team Commander: C/MAJ Andre Danielson
Unarmed Drill consists of moving as a team without the use of rifles. It shows you how to march, how to turn and how to follow orders with precision. Such drills teach discipline, skills and focus on collaborating with others to get the job done. This is the drill you usually learn when you first join AFJROTC.
Armed drill is like unarmed drill, but rifles are involved. You start to keep time, and follow orders while you are still marching but you also learn what to do with the rifle and how to handle the ride safely.
Color Guard Commander: C/1LT Brenia Matthews
Color Guard NCO: C/SSGT Ian Papka
Color Guard is a unique combination that marches around with the U.S. flag and flags from various sections at ceremonies. Color Guard is handling the flags formally and giving respect to them while marching around. These people are always looking sharp, professional. You'll see them at parades and sports games and school events.

Armed Exhibition is where cadets add a choreographed routine of tossing, twirling and otherwise playing with rifles. It is intense and it take a lot of practice and discipline. Armed exhibition showcases skill, confidence and creativity.
Unarmed Exhibition is similar to armed, but without rifles. Exhibition is when cadets are allowed to stomp, clap and snap and use sharp moves to create exciting, rhythmic performance. These movements can get very timed and the cadets show teamwork when doing the routine.
