Chuck was dedicated to supporting the community form a very young age. He led Boys & Girls Club activities, joined the Jaycess (through which he met Betty) and later "converted" to Rotary. He served as Schoolboard Trustee in Kamloops BC for 5 years, and officiated international track & field (focus on jumping events, both amateur and professional).

Chuck joined the Rotary Club of Kamloops North in 1967. In 1971-72, he was the club president. He served as district Secretary in 1975-76 and was the District Governor’s special representative for the formation of the Kamloops West Rotary Club.
