Who are eligible for the Industrial Training?
All the final year second semester students of all four subdivision are eligible for academic Industrial Training.
What is the overall process of industrial training?
Here are the steps:
Students inquire with industry / Industry inquired Department
Student inquire with subdivision contact person / contact person disseminates information to students through Head
Request letter provided to student / sent to industry
Acceptance confirmation from industry (email / verbal)
Letter to industrial training supervisor, Evaluation sheet, Guideline to students and Report format provided to students
Students start industrial training and send weekly log / report
After 6 weeks of commencement, mid term evaluation with Industrial Supervisor. (Industry visit if possible)
After 12 weeks, students submit report to subdivision wise contact person
Final evaluation (viva voce or presentation or any other means)

What will be the marking scheme for industrial training?
External supervisor : 55
Mid term evaluation: 5
Weekly log / report: 10
Final : 30
What is Industrial Training duration?
The duration of the industrial training should be 12 weeks.
Can we do internship in any field related to mechanical engineering or need to stick to our sub-division?
Yes. You can do internship in any field related to Mechanical Engineering; should not be just in your subdivision. However you might need to show a bit of relevance to your subdivision.
Do we need any document to be submitted to company from department side?
Yes. You will need to submit a request letter to the company that will be provided by the respective subdivision facilitator. Also, look at Home page > Guidelines for Industrial Training
What procedure a company must follow in order to contact the department and confirm our participation where we have already secured place for internship?
Company can provide a letter of acceptance to the department stating the name of student that they have accepted and details like duration, stipend & other facilities like accommodation and travel (if provided)
Can we do some research work as intern rather than industrial training?
Industrial Training is supposed to provide students industrial flavor. So, students are expected to understand the know how of industry during their industrial training rather than hardcore research which they have been doing inside the University. Research work related to issues / problems in industry can be one part of the work in industry for interns.
Which sectors can be considered for internship at a diverse work scenario?
The relevant companies for the Mechanical Engineering students range from large manufacturing industry to small specialist organizations, service industries to government agencies, NGOs, INGOs, maintenance, energy sector and so on
What if 3rd wave of corona continues for few more months, will companies accept interns during such time?
It is completely up to the industry. However, in such time of crisis department might be slight flexible with different versions of industrial training.

Yes. You will be able to find a list of companies with whom we already have past industrial training relationship in the Help tab [ will be added soon].
How the project and the Internships will be carried out in the last semester?
Students are expected to complete all academic works including final year project before going to industrial training. However, in special cases, students can choose to defend their final year project after the Industrial Training in the time allotted by the Department.
When can we start our internship at earliest and finish it by latest?
As a part of credited industrial training, students are expected to start industrial training within a week after they defend final year project in fourth year second semester. Minimum time for the industrial training is 12 weeks.
What are the procedures for application in company?

How can we get request letter ?
You can get request letter from respective subdivision facilitator after filling in the form available at the Contact Person page. (Press the button "Get Request Letter" below respective subdivision facilitator.
What are the information that we need to provide?
Information that you need to provide are Your full name, registration number, phone number, Full Name to whom letter is to be addressed, his/her designation, name of the industry, address and Country.
What if the industry provides more than 3 months (12 weeks) industrial training ?
There is no restriction from the department in the duration of industrial training, however academic requirement of department is only 12 weeks. Students can continue working in the industry after completing the evaluation of 3 months.
