Accounting I is a full year course designed to provide students with an understanding of double-entry accounting and to assist students in the understanding of accounting principles and procedures. The course covers the accounting cycles for both a service business organized as a sole proprietorship and a merchandising business. Additionally, the course will address the impact of technology on the field of accounting and begin to provide students with knowledge surrounding automated accounting software. Basic tax information, investments and banking will also be explored. The course will build a solid foundation in accounting fundamentals in order for students to become analysts of accounting related information, decision makers and problem solvers, not merely recorders of financial information. At the completion of this course, students will be well qualified to accept any position that might involve journalizing and posting in special journals and ledgers. We will be using Google Classroom/Meet as well as Google Sheets regularly. We will be using some other familiar technology tools and activities as well during our course. Please be patient as we navigate this year together.
Note: you may want to consider doing an internship in your chosen business field – or any filed that interests you! -OR- participate in our Work Study course (if you have a job) for school credit in your Senior Year! Ask me for info!
