“MAGBASA, MANGARAP MAGDIWANG”
KTLA LIBRARY |January 20-24, 2025
National Book Week, celebrated annually from November 24 to 30, was established under Proclamations Nos. 109 (1936) and 837 (1991), as Library and Information Services Month.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, instead of celebrating it in November, the KTLA Library celebrated the 90th National Book Week Celebration on January 20 - 24, 2025, with the theme “Magbasa, Mangarap, Magdiwang” a series of engaging activities. It was a spontaneous, fun, engaging activity to cultivate a love for reading.
The event offered a wide range of activities, starting with the Book Picnic, where students from preschool to high school had the opportunity to explore a variety of books and share their discoveries with friends. During this activity, librarians emphasized the importance of reading, sparking an early love for literature among our young learners. A captivating storytelling session also took place, igniting the imaginations of students.
A vibrant and creative bookmark-making activity empowered students to express their artistic talents, showcasing their creativity through colorful designs. To foster critical thinking and advocacy, an essay writing contest and advocacy video competition centered on the "Piliin Magbasa, Piliin ang Pilipinas" theme. These activities encouraged students to reflect on the significance of reading and its role in nation-building, empowering them to become voices of change for a brighter future.
The event concluded with a meaningful outreach activity in collaboration with the KTLA SGO officers, their adviser, Mr. Marlon Bromacom, and Mrs. Catherine Espiritu at the Brgy. Anib Daycare Center. This partnership opens students and community leaders to unite, bringing joy and educational resources to the children at the daycare center. Through this collaboration, we fostered a sense of community and service while promoting the value of giving and reading to uplift lives. The outreach strengthened bonds within the community and reinforced the importance of giving back and supporting one another in creating a brighter, more literate future for all.
