About Me

I am a chemist, researcher, and academic with a strong interest in nanotechnology, surface phenomena, sol-gel science, and advanced functional materials.

I received my MSc in Chemistry Science from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2015, following my BSc in Chemistry from Salahaddin University–Iraq, completed in 2007. My postgraduate research focused on the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials, particularly the role of surface-active agents in controlling material properties.

My MSc thesis, titled “Effect of Cationic Surfactants on Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles Properties Synthesized via Sol-Gel Technique,” investigated how cationic surfactants influence the properties of ZnO nanoparticles prepared using the sol-gel technique. This work strengthened my interest in understanding the relationship between synthesis conditions, surface chemistry, structure, and the resulting physicochemical properties of nanomaterials.

Since then, my academic and research interests have expanded into areas including nanomaterials, photocatalysis, polymer electrolytes, surface and interfacial phenomena, and materials chemistry. I am particularly interested in designing functional materials whose properties can be tailored for applications in environmental remediation, energy-related technologies, and sustainable materials development.

In addition to research, I am passionate about higher education, teaching, scientific communication, and mentoring students. I believe that meaningful scientific progress comes from combining fundamental understanding with practical applications, while encouraging curiosity and critical thinking in the next generation of scientists.

My professional journey continues to be guided by a simple goal: to understand materials at the fundamental level and use that knowledge to develop innovative solutions to real-world scientific and environmental challenges.
