CASE STUDY / ICU LECTURE / CVA
Mrs. Zhala, a 70-year-old female, was admitted to the ICU 24 hours ago following a severe hemorrhagic stroke (CVA). She has a history of atrial fibrillation and hypertension. This morning, her level of consciousness has decreased (GCS 8), and she has lost her cough and gag reflex.
Current Assessment Findings
Respiratory: Audible gurgling sounds (death rattle) in the upper airway; SpO2 has dropped to 88% ; tachypnea with shallow breaths.
Neurological: Pupils are sluggish; she is non-responsive to verbal commands.
Vitals: BP 190/100 mmHg; Heart Rate 105 bpm (irregular)
