Zoom Guest Speakers
We heard from several special Zoom guest speakers this year. Mark Sharp from Oak Park High School shared with us about robots and the robotic competition team he coaches. Michael Chrane, the woodworking teacher at Oak Park High School, shared some woodworking tools, projects, and safety guidelines. Pat from the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center taught us all about Missouri's owls.
Students used their creative thinking and engineering skills throughout the year. They created space vehicles out of a Mystery Bag of items and shared them with the rest of the class. They also designed new toys and shared them with our class. Some of the engineering challenges they completed: coin bridges, rock stacking, turkey traps, squirrel/bird feeders, etc.
The students each chose a topic to study for the year. Then they gathered resources, cited the sources, and took notes. They used their notes to create a research paper with a bibliography page and four projects. All of their papers and projects can be found on their Google Sites, but here are a few highlights.
