Application for Cohort 3 is now OPEN
Aloha mai kākou,
Kamehameha Schools Maui is proud to renew its partnership with Arizona State University for Cohort 3. This initiative allows eligible haumåna to begin their college education early by enrolling in online courses, ultimately leading to an Associate in Arts degree from ASU in four years.
Courses are asynchronous and self-paced. Our Assistant Principal, Dr. Lisa Correa, will facilitate the registration and enrollment process with ASU. Your grade level Dean will support you in the registration and enrollment process with Kamehameha Schools, as well as academic counseling and advising. To be eligible for this program:
● Haumāna must be scheduled to enter grade 9 in the Fall semester of the school year 2026.
Math: Due to the rigorous courses, if students are not placed in Geometry in the 9th grade, they will be required to take Geometry (3 credits) in Summer 2027 AND CIS 105 (3 credits).
● Haumāna must have a current GPA of 3.2 and above; an additional review will be conducted by HS administration if GPA is below 3.2.
Haumāna must also be in good behavioral standing, meaning no incidents of conduct violations, behavioral record(s), or chronic unexcused absences (10 or more in a school year). This includes referrals for the current school year that have been reviewed by the student’s dean or Māhele Luna administrator.
● Haumāna will require two teacher recommendation forms to be completed (1 by a core teacher - Math, Science, English, Hawaiian language, and 1 by an elective teacher)
● Haumāna complete and be on track (“in-progress”) to complete the minimum requirements for graduation; or haumanā have met, exceeded, and/or fulfilled the minimum elective credit requirement at KSM.
Haumāna will enroll in a college course that will require independent study, and I am expected to follow all guidelines noted:
I am expected to follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the Kamehameha Schools Maui (KSM) Student Handbook and Course Catalog and the ASU Code of Conduct, Handbook, Course Catalog, and/or Course Syllabus.
I must earn at least a C for it to be on my ASU transcript.
Haumāna who fail or drop the class beyond the “drop” date will be charged the tuition cost (via FACTS) for that particular class.
Students must also report to scheduled check-ins with Mrs. Correa.
I understand that my ASU instructor may require online attendance and active participation. Failure to meet these expectations could impact my grade and may result in being dropped from the course or receiving a failing grade if assignments are not completed by the specified deadline.
