Walk in Orientations are given at 15 minutes past the hour every hour we're open!
The KCI Makerspace equipment is industry-grade, which means that it is complicated and dangerous to use without proper training. Even a small mistake can cause tens-of-thousands of dollars of damage, or significant injuries to you and other people in the space. You must be trained and certified by a staff member in order to be allowed to use a piece of equipment. Once you complete basic trainings, you will have access to advanced training calendars. Basic trainings cost 2 credits and advanced trainings cost 3 or 4 credits.
Sign up for training below:
Once you are trained on a machine, you may book it for your use whenever the space is open and the machine is available. Reservations are required for all equipment use. You will gain access to equipment reservation calendars after completing trainings. Credit costs for equipment reservations vary depending on the cost of materials and the amount of resources used.
Reservations and prior certifications are required for ALL equipment use!
Training appointments are limited by staff availability, so you need an appointment to guarantee that there will be someone available to train you. Equipment reservations are the only way to guarantee that you will be able to use the equipment in the space. Reservations will always take precedent over another user.
Additionally, sometimes the Makerspace closes early due to other events or staffing shortages, so making an appointment will guarantee that you do not waste your time coming to a closed space!
Beginning January 2024, reservations will be required for all makerspace use.
