Eligibility
The Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) Program is designed for educators with 5+ years of teaching experience. Ideal candidates have a demonstrated track record of integrating technology into instruction via their own classroom teaching or work as an administrator, technology coordinator, instructional, coach, or Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA),
Requirements of Participation
All CIO program candidates must complete the following requirements:
- Attend all 7 face-to-face class meetings held at the Krause Center for Innovation at Foothill College. Foothill College is approximately 20 minutes from San Jose International Airport and 30 minutes from San Francisco International Airport. Lodging is available within 5 miles of the Foothill College campus.
- The face-to-face classes will be held on Friday evenings from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the following dates:
- August 10-11, 2018
- September 14-15, 2018
- October 5-6, 2018
- November 2-3, 2018
- January 11-12, 2019
- February 8-9, 2019
- March 1-2, 2019
- Complete required face-to-face and online projects. These projects will be designed to assist candidates in planning, developing, and implementing innovative educational programs in their school or district. Candidates will share their projects with the entire cohort.
- Engage in professional learning: Earn a total of 50 participation points (25 in professional learning and 25 in professional sharing) This philosophy is at the heart of the program, by which graduates demonstrate their ability to be a teacher and learner depending upon the context and audience. - Mentor colleagues or teachers at your school/district. (Earns CIO points - See CIO Points document)
- Evaluate and report on assignments and projects completed during the program through an electronic portfolio.
Chief Innovation Officer Costs:
The CIO program tuition is $2,200 and this includes 27 quarter units of coursework from Foothill College. The following payment options are available .
- Pay the entire cost of the program before the program starts either by check or credit card.
- Pay the cost of the program in three installments (August, November and January)
- Your school/district can pay the cost of the program by purchase order.
