92nd Street Linear Park

Who We Are:

The Friends of Washington & 92nd Street Park is a resident-led group based in Florence-Firestone/Watts that cares about their local parks (Col. Leon H. Washington Park and 92nd Street Park) & community.

In 2020, the Florence Firestone community, Kounkuey Design Initiative (a design nonprofit), and the LA County Dept. of Parks and Recreation successfully secured funding for the creation of the 92nd St Linear Park. In 2024, our group started convening and was formerly known as the 92nd St Stewardship Group.

Stewardship Group Vision Statement:

Our vision for Col. Leon H. Washington Park and 92nd Street Park is to create a safe, clean, and vibrant community space that enhances the quality of life for all residents. We are dedicated to building a park that fosters connection, fun, and well-being for generations to come. By prioritizing green spaces, we aim to offer a welcoming environment for children, seniors, families, and neighbors to gather, play, and build a stronger sense of community. Together, we will cultivate a park that reflects the voices and needs of our community, ensuring it remains a cherished resource for everyone.
