It is with great joy that I welcome the Dr. Lee Jong-Wook fellowship nursing major trainees from five countries—Cambodia, Ethiopia, Mongolia, Uganda and Vietnam—as we celebrate the opening of the Dr. Lee Jong-wook Fellowship Master’s Degree Program at Korea University. This program marks not only a tribute to one of Korea's most significant figures in global health, but also the beginning of an exciting new chapter in our university's history.
Founded in 1905 during a time of great hardship for our nation, Korea University has long stood as a beacon of learning, dedicated to the belief that education is essential for a prosperous future. Over the past 120 years, we have nurtured leaders who have made substantial contributions to our nation and the world.
To our esteemed trainees, congratulations on being selected for this program! You are the torchbearers, chosen for your dedication and passion to make a meaningful impact. I hope this fellowship serves as a strong foundation for your development as leaders and enhances the field of health sciences in your home countries.
As you embark on this journey, remember that the knowledge and experiences you gain here are not just for your benefit; they are for the betterment of your communities and beyond. This fellowship is a living tribute to Dr. Lee's legacy and a continuation of Korea University’s mission to contribute to global society through education and service.
I look forward to seeing the incredible achievements that will emerge from this program. May the Dr. Lee Jong-wook Fellowship Program flourish for many years to come.
