Caring for Self and 'Ohana, Growing Through Adversity, Owning Our Future
We serve culturally and linguistically diverse students who are developing in the four domains of language: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Our program serves 81 students enrolled in the who receive a range of language and intervention supports. Our students speak multiple languages including Spanish, Chukeese, Ilocano, Tagalog, and Pohnpeian among others.
Ms. Martinez holds a MS Ed in Educational Studies with a concentration in Secondary English from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University, Fullerton. Ms. Martinez entered teaching as a Teach for America Corps Member in 2014. Since then, obtained a teaching license in Secondary (6-12) English and is currently a candidate for National Board Certification.
Ms. Hernandez
Mrs. Williams has been at Konawaena High School since 2019. As a bilingual paraprofessional, she supports Newcomers when they arrive on campus and provides in-class tutoring for all ELs. Additionally, she translates parent meetings and assists with enrollment.
