My husband (Joe) and me in Beaver Bay, MN in summer of 2024.
My name is Megan Biwer (which is German and pronounced Beaver like the animal) and I am a third grade reading teacher here at Kasson-Mantorville Elementary. I am so excited to work together to support your child during the school year. Third grade is filled with opportunities for students to grow in their independence and develop their personalities! I am excited to share a little bit about myself, and I can't wait to get to know you and your child better this school year!
I am originally from Cohasset, MN but moved to Mantorville in 2007 and graduated from KMHS in 2015.
I graduated from Winona State - Rochester with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education in 2019 and with my Master's in Education in 2020.
I have been teaching at KMES since 2023, and I previously taught one year of 4th grade in Rochester during the 2019-2020 school year. I also subbed at KMES in the spring of 2023.
I married my husband, Joe, in June of 2024. Some students may know me as Ms. Moses, but I am now Mrs. Biwer. We live in Mantorville with our 3 cats (Nimbus, Auburn, and Kiki) and our dog (Buddy).
I enjoy reading, crafting, hiking, cooking and baking, and board games, card games, and puzzles.
Iced coffee is my drink of choice (especially raspberry white mochas and caramel macchiatos).
I have a pretty big sweet tooth (especially for chocolate and peanut butter).
I have lots of favorite foods! Mashed potatoes, steak, shrimp, crab, asparagus, and broccoli are some of my top choices. My favorite snacks are popcorn, kettle chips, pretzels, cashews, watermelon, and cantaloupe.
Your child will split their day equally between two third grade teachers. I will be your child's reading and social studies teacher, and my teaching partner, Mr. Paukert, will be your child's math teacher. Your child will have a homeroom teacher (either myself or Mr. Paukert), but we work together as a team to support your child throughout the school year.
If you have general questions or concerns during the school year, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher first. Reading specific questions can be directed to me (m.biwer@komets.k12.mn.us) and math specific questions to Mr. Paukert (d.paukert@komets.k12.mn.us). Platooning has worked really well in 3rd grade, and we hope it is just as successful for your child!
