In the second term of this project, I feel good about talking around the world's long traditions and festivities. It was so interesting knowing and learning new costumes from different countries every day. I used to read articles about topics like these ones, but now I find doing these activities is much more entertaining. We have learnt about so many things, for example, we have been talking about famous dishes, New Year, Christmas, Halloween...
Firstly, in Halloween’s activities we had to play some games and create a beautiful logo of the Spooky Grainy Trainy. It was quite good in my opinion. Secondly, we joined our international teams. In my case, I answered some questions about future jobs. I think it is really interesting to learn more facts about the future. I also did the Grainy Diary at home although we didn’t have to do it. At Christmas; on the one hand, we opened an advent calendar and on the other hand, we edited a video of Santa Claus saying hello to each of us. I found it very funny at the end. Then, we wrote various New Year’s wishes about school, the planet and ourselves. To finish, I interviewed my grandmother and compared the jobs she has had with the type of jobs nowadays. I believe it is essential to know how they lived in the past to improve our lives at the present time.
The advent calendar was the activity I most liked the most in the whole month because I didn’t know about any recipe and I have learnt a lot. However, I didn’t like doing the Spooky logo, it was a little bit boring. I think the most challenging activity has been making the three pots of New Year’s wishes. Apart from decorating the template, we also had to record our voice.
Two things I will remember about what I have learnt over the last months are that we have to write formal messages to people we don’t know well and that we have to be respectful with other teammates. Doing activities this way helps you see more points of view and know more things. If I could do something differently, I would try to search my own information and improve my vocabulary using more formal and unusual words. I would like to continue doing this project because it has helped me a lot with my English level. In my opinion, I have done a good job. I have taken part in all activities and I believe I have made an effort to do things in the best way I can.
The activities were both enriching and transformative for students. Many students highlighted improvements in their communication skills, particularly in English speaking and writing. They appreciated the opportunity to interact with peers from other countries and recognized how these exchanges helped them become more confident and culturally aware. Live sessions and podcasts were frequently mentioned as favorite and most impactful activities, despite their technical or creative challenges.
Students also acknowledged the development of soft skills such as teamwork, time management, and initiative. While some found it difficult to participate due to a lack of confidence, most felt proud of their progress and were motivated to continue improving. As one student shared, “At the beginning, I was afraid to speak in English, but now I feel much more comfortable and less nervous.” This sense of growth was echoed across many reflections. Creative tasks—such as comic strips, posters, and interviews with grandparents—offered opportunities for personal expression, strengthened connections to family and cultural history, and fostered awareness about discrimination and prejudice. One student remarked, “In my opinion, it's very important to know about different people and their stories about discrimination, because they must have a voice that must be heard to avoid these situations.”
The students’ feedback clearly reflected personal growth and a strong sense of achievement.
