It is an event organised by the European Commission every second year to promote young people’s active participation in society and democratic actions. This year the event takes place from 12th to 19th April. You can read about it here.
Being BrAInY eTwinners, we also want to be BrAInY Europeans. Thus, we are joining in the campaign - let’s learn together about Europe and let’s make our students voice their vision!
We followed the Genially presentation to learn about Europe. We read about Europe Day, EU member countries, the European flag, motto and anthem and visited the fun learning corner to revise the information. We took the quizzes on the European countries and capitals.
In the Forum on TwinSpace we reflected on our findings and achievements concerning the tasks above by answering the posted questions in our INTERNATIONAL TEAMS.
More options
We will discuss some topics in our International Team. Answer the following questions and comment on your partners' posts:
1. What is the most interesting thing you have learnt about the EU?
2. Are you satisfied with your score in the quizzes? Which quiz was the easiest/ the most difficult one for you?
3. Do you think organising the European Youth Week is a good idea? Why/ why not?
4. It is usually said that there is a connection between Eurovision and soft politics that goes beyond economic interests and it is likely to be an instrument of diplomacy. Will you follow the eurovision Contest? Do you have a favourite candidate? Have you heard of musicians being banned from Eurovision or other contests /events because of political reasons?
Who will win Eurovision?
2024 is a very important year for us - Europeans. It is the year when we are going to decide on the future of Europe - OUR future! Being EU citizens we have the right to choose our representatives in the European Parliament for the next five years. We will visit the Eurodesk site devoted to the European Parliament elections 2024 to learn what the EP is, how to vote and why to vote.
Having learnt about the significance of youth’s participation in elections, we prepared our own election campaign aiming at encouraging young people to vote.
Working in pairs/ small groups, students chose one of the following options:
Create a talking avatar that will convince young people to vote in the European elections.
Make a video that will encourage young people to vote in the European elections.
Design a poster that will encourage young people to vote in the European elections.
The students filled in our BrAInY questionnaire about the EU and we drew conclusions from the answers.
