Biorefinery & Biomass Conversion
The Lab BBC at KNU is a research laboratory that was established in 2023 with the objective of developing technologies that are utilized in biorefinery platforms through the conversion of lignocellulosic biomass, a representative sustainable material.
The growing urgency of environmental issues linked to climate change has intensified global interest in sustainability. Our research aims to advance biorefinery technologies by conversion of Lignocellulosic biomass. In order to achieve the objective, the following research are being conducted: 1) Process development of biomass-based carbon materials for use in secondary batteries, supercapacitors, gas adsorption and storage; 2) Research on cellulose-based component materials for secondary battery; and 3) Development of sustainable flame retardant materials based on main components of lignoncellulosic biomass. Additionally, we are preparing the research project to develop a truly sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) capable of overcoming the blending wall.
