In NJROTC, a Physical Fitness Team, often called a PT Team or Athletic Team, is a group of cadets who compete in events like push-ups, sit-ups, a 1-mile run, and other physical challenges, both at the unit level and in competitions against other JROTC units.
What they do:
Train for Competitions:
PT teams train regularly to improve their performance in events like push-ups, sit-ups, 1-mile runs, shuttle runs, pull-ups, and V-sit reach.
Participate in Competitions:
They compete against other JROTC units at local, regional, and even national levels.
Cadet Challenge:
Some units focus on the Cadet Challenge, which often includes push-ups, sit-ups, a 1-mile run, shuttle run, and a flexibility test (V-sit).
Physical Fitness Ribbon:
Cadets who achieve satisfactory or better scores in the Cadet Challenge events (curl-ups, push-ups, and the 1-mile run/walk) may be awarded the NJROTC Physical Fitness Ribbon.
