Submissions

Poetry--original works on any subject appropriate to an academic environment with a minimum length of 3 lines, maximum length of 50 lines. 

Short fiction- Original works of fiction of any genre appropriate to an academic setting. Maximum word count of 1250. 

Personal Nonfiction- Original papers on any topic suitable to an academic setting. Focuses on personal experiences, opinion, perspective, etc. Word count maximum 750. 

Visual Art--Original works of visual art in any medium with subject/content appropriate to an academic setting. Submit a digital image.

Manuscripts/written submissions should be submitted via google docs. Please submit copies of your original work, not the original document itself. Manuscripts longer than one page should include page numbers.  Fiction and Nonfiction texts should be doubled-spaced. 

Slip of the Pen’s selection process is anonymous. All entries should be submitted with a cover page detailing the author’s name, student ID number, and title of work. Entries themselves should be labeled only with the student's ID number.
