The audience for this information is new teachers. However, some of the information may also apply to classified staff, nurses, etc. Information that is appropriate for all staff members will be marked with an asterisk. (*).
Teachers are assigned devices at the school level.
Teachers may receive a Mac, PC, or Chromebook at the principal's discretion.
These devices are distributed by the school after the employee is fully hired.
Classrooms are typically equipped with a Promethean Titanium panel and may contain other equipment that has been purchased at the school level such as iPads, document cameras, robotics, etc.
When you turn on your device, you'll be given a login screen.
The username is your 9-digit employee ID number.
The password is the new password you set when you changed it from the generic password you were initially issued. (See Access>> Resetting my Password.)
If you have not reset the initial password, you must do so before accessing your device.
When you open the Chrome browser (preferred), you can log into it to automatically populate some KCS bookmarks and get into your KCS Google account. (See Systems.)
When logging into Chrome...

Knox County Schools supplies 1:1 devices for all students.
K-2 students are equipped with a Dell touchscreen Chromebook.
3-12 students are equipped with a Dell Chromebook.

Students login to their accounts similarly to teachers.
Their user name is their email address. The student email address is comprised of...
the student ID number preceded by an "s".

Their password is unique.
Some elementary schools have a formula used to calculate a password for each student. (Not recommended)
Other schools allow students to create their own passwords.

Any KCS employee can reset a student's password.
Students do not have the ability to change their own passwords.
