David King, in his 19th year as Director of Bands at Fulton High School in Knoxville, Tennessee is a member of the Tennessee Department of Education’s Instrumental Music Standards Review Committee and has contributed to statewide conversations on arts education, curriculum, and student access.
A lifelong musician and educator, King leads Fulton’s comprehensive band program and performs professionally across regional jazz, classical, and commercial settings. He holds a MM. in Music Performance, a BA. in Studio Music and jazz, and K-12 Music Education from the University of Tennessee, and is currently working on an Education Specialist Degree from the University of the Cumberlands.
King’s instructional approach is informed by a career performing with the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra, collaborating with numerous nationally recognized artists, performing with multiple recording artists, touring artists and shows. Mr. King believes in bringing the expectations and craft of the professional stage into the classroom and expects his students to also perform at the highest musical level.
David Miller has taught for the past 12 years, 11 of which have been at Fulton High. He teaches the Marching Band, directs the Percussion Ensemble and Music Production.
David is an alumnus of Music City Legend Drum & Bugle Corps and holds his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Tennessee, where he was a member of the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and the Pride of the Southland Marching Band. David is married to Tori, whom we appreciate very much, and they are the proud parents of Jaxon & Harper.
