A mandatory pre-tryout meeting on March 31 at 6:30 in the BHS library. Each prospective athlete must be in attendance with a parent or guardian. Failure to attend this meeting may result in disqualification from trying out. All tryout forms and team requirements will be reviewed exclusively at this meeting. If you have any questions or concerns about the team or tryout procedures, they can be addressed at the meeting.

The BHS Tryout Clinic will be held on Monday, April 14 - Wednesday, April 16 from 4:30-6:30pm in the BHS Gym. At the clinic, Coach K and the current seniors will teach all potential applicants the tryout material and will review the tryout process.
Cheerleading applicants will learn a cheer, chant, and dance. They will also work on jumps and tumbling.
Mascot applicants will be asked to put together a 1 minute skit to go along with the cheer that is taught and a skit up to three minutes that includes music and props. Mascots can bring in props or use cheerleading signs and megaphones. For reference, look up the UCA National Mascot Championship, you can see the skits they create and the props that go along with it!
During the Tuesday-Thursday clinic, Coach K will be evaluating each athlete.
Please ensure that all digital tryout paperwork has been submitted prior to the clinic and bring hard copies of your physical form and concussion form and your $40 tryout fee to the clinic.
Applicants must wear Bearden High School colors (maroon, black, white, or gray) during clinic days. Hair must be secured in a pony-tail (bow optional) and a game-day-ready appearance (see the @beardencheer Instagram for examples). Athletic shoes are required. No midriffs, sports bras, spandex, or jewelry are allowed.
Tryout fee $40.00 (check payable to Go Dogs Booster or cash in an envelope labeled with applicant's name)

A panel of 3 judges (75% of score; 25% from coach) will select members of the 2025-2026 team on Thursday, April 17. Tryouts will be held in the BHS Gym starting at 4:30pm until all tryouts have finished.
Cheerleading applicants must wear white shirt or tank, black shorts, and cheer or athletic shoes. Hair must be secured in a pony-tail (white bow) and a game-day-ready appearance (see the @beardencheer instagram for examples of game-day-ready appearance). No midriffs, sports bra, spandex, or jewelry are allowed.
Mascot applicants should wear athletic clothes as they will put on the Bulldog uniform to perform their skit.
Tryouts are closed to the public. NO PARENTS ARE ALLOWED INSIDE THE SCHOOL DURING TRYOUTS.
Above is the criteria requirements that are a matter of Knox County Board of Education records and must be adhered to exactly as written. Parents and Students must abide by these requirements for selecting Cheerleaders and Dance Teams. Please read and review carefully.
