Our Story and Achievements
Our story started in 1997 when Knowledge Associates in Cambridge were invited to be a part of a European Commission 2 million euro collaborative research project called Know-Net, together with Ernst & Young, INSEAD Business School Advanced Centre for Learning, France, and the German DFKI Research Institute for Advanced Artificial Intelligence.
We developed a Knowledge and Innovation driven framework (KIF) that describes the five dimensions of individual, team, organisational, inter-organisational and global knowledge and innovation. We recognised the natural principles where effective communications of information, collaboration, faster learning and knowledge management, strategic knowledge asset management, co-creativity and innovation will occur. As knowledge underpins everything we do, we know that those individuals and organisations who manage their knowledge assets wisely will lead the 21st Century.
We developed a methodology for organisations to implement 'Knowledge Asset Management'. This was followed in 2001 when the European Commission awarded a further 1 million euro project called LEVER, to apply and test the methodology, in very large organisations, like UBS Bank, and SME's. Both projects were highly successful and led to the Know-Net research methodology and LEVER results being published by Springer in 2003 in the book Knowledge Asset Management.
From 2003 to the present day, Knowledge Associates have applied and improved the methodology significantly with clients across the world in all sectors, public and private, large and small. We refer to this improved methodology as Knowledge Asset Management (KAM) Methodology.
In 2007 Knowledge Associates were approached by the Asian Productivity Organisation, to assist them, as experts, with their mission to improve the productivity of Asia, especially the knowledge worker productivity for organisations across Asia. Since then we have edited and co-authored 6 books for APO on Knowledge and Innovation and during 2017 we further assisted APO by reviewing and updating the key publications to take full account of the ISO international standards and practices and technological changes that have taken place since.
In January 2015, Knowledge Associates were awarded University Academic Accreditation for Knowledge Asset Management from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge and Chelmsford, UK, Lord Ashcroft International Business School, for our first management module education in a series, entitled 'Knowledge Asset Management' (KAM).
This module is academically accredited to University Masters Degree, Level 7.
This is the first in a series of higher international management modules at Masters level. The further modules that we are developing focus on the global knowledge and innovation driven economy, knowledge economics, knowledge leadership, knowledge competencies, knowledge platforms, tools and technologies, and transformation management in a complex global knowledge society.
