Kettle Moraine Orchestras

About Ms. Weber (Middle School Orchestra)

Hi, my name is Shelly Weber, and I'm so happy to invite you to the KM Orchestra program! I am a graduate of Kettle Moraine (Go Lasers!) and live on Pretty Lake so that I can raise my own daughters, Sunny and Summer, in this fantastic community. My husband, Nick, and I are both musicians, he teaches middle school band at Longfellow Middle School in Wauwatosa, so there is plenty of music in the Weber-Jelich household!

My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Education earned from UW-Whitewater. I also hold a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction earned from UW-Madison. My pedagogical focus is to inspire students to be problem-solvers through the study of music, and to have opportunities to feel well-connected socially, emotionally, and intellectually through music. I hold my students to incredibly high musical, academic, and behavioral standards, but there is still plenty of room for FUN in the orchestra classroom.

I really enjoy leading students through events that inspire their creativity and love of music; whether it's a trip to the symphony, a 2Cellos concert at Fiserv, or an outing to share music with a local senior-living facility, those experiences are what draw students to the orchestra program and encourage them to find their niche here.

About Ms. Sternberg (High School Orchestra and Perform Music Specialist)

Hello! I am Hannah Sternberg, the high school orchestra teacher. I graduated from UW Eau Claire in May of 2023 with a degree in Instrumental Music Education.  In school I studied all of the string instruments and participated in many ensembles, including: orchestra, baroque orchestra, Cohen string quartet, jazz band, wind symphony, and jazz combos!   I also directed the Chippewa Valley Youth Orchestra, played in two local orchestras and gigged around Eau Claire and the Twin Cities.

I am originally from Brookfield and went to Brookfield Central.  While in school, I was in the LAUNCH program for future teachers, and I got wonderful experience teaching young string players and German students! I also played hockey and golf through all four years of school and still play today.

Orchestra is so beneficial for all students, and I am excited to share this with students at the high school level.  Music expands the mind and provides students with a new way of thinking that can help break up their intense academic days.  Like Ms. Weber, I will hold students to a high standard and help them achieve their goals on their instruments, but I will be sure that our pace allows plenty of time for fun!

I love all kinds of music, and I want to share that diverse love of music with students in concerts, listening sessions, and experimentation in our own orchestra! My goal as an orchestra teacher is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to play music and listening to music on a deeper level for the rest of their lives.

I hope to get parent feedback on how orchestra is going for their student and what can be improved or implemented in the program to make learning stronger!
