AI Systems are intelligent since they can interact and respond like a human might. AI Systems are trained to use conditionals and reasoning based on how it has been trained. AI Systems use sensors and learn from INPUT (voice, text, data) to respond or do tasks (OUTPUT).
Artificial Intelligence is machine learning technology that can perform tasks that typically requires human intelligence.
Generative AI is a type of AI that can CREATE content, including text, images, video and audio.
(AI is not a doctor, therapist or a teacher.)

KMMS AI Rules: Students only use AI Technology when directed and supervised by a teacher. Students are not allowed to use AI Tools independently, regardless of if they are at home or at school.
Why? AI Technology is unique in that tools have restrictions and are NOT open to all ages. AI Technology is rapidly developing, and systems are continuously trained. AI Technology doesn’t forget, there is no delete or forget function. Some AI Tools work on a system called OpenAI, which poses risks for misinformation & bias, privacy, and unethical use, therefore, users have to be very careful about what is typed into them. AI Technology should be considered a tool to be used with extreme caution because users are responsible for the output that could be dangerous, illegal, or inappropriate.
KMSD follows strict guidelines for digital tool use to protect data and privacy. Only specific AI Tools have been vetted for school use. Using unapproved digital tools is not permitted and violates our district's Acceptable Use Policy.
EXCEPTIONS: Educational AI tools for students at the middle school level are those where teachers may supervise student use of AI technology, namely MagicSchool.ai or Brisk Boost. If a class assignment requires Graphic Design AI, teachers wil direct use of Adobe Express and Canva EDU.
