First Year Ensembles

Prelude Orchestra is a non-audition group.

• • Prelude Orchestra is for students who may have little to no experience playing a string instrument learn the basics of string technique and performing.

  • Students choosing to play a string instrument for the first time can play the violin, viola, cello, or bass.

  • Students that participated in 5th grade strings in elementary school will also be in this group.

  • Students will solidify their techniques by the end of the year to have appropriate set up to enter Second + Third Year Ensembles.

  • Prelude Orchestra students will have opportunities to perform in concerts throughout the year, Solo and Ensemble, and participate in several social events!

  • Students in Prelude Orchestra will be able to take one-on-one private lessons for an additional fee with a professional on their instrument during class time or after school depending on availability!

Intermediate Orchestra is an audition-based group.

• Intermediate Orchestra is for students who have some experience playing a string instrument. Here, they will continue to develop their technique.

• This includes students that participated in 5th grade strings in elementary school.

• Intermediate Orchestra students learn basic musicianship and small ensemble skills in a competitive setting.

• Students will solidify their techniques by the end of the year to have appropriate set up to enter Second + Third Year Ensembles.

• Intermediate Orchestra students will have opportunities to perform in concerts throughout the year, Solo and Ensemble, and participate in several social events!

• Students in Intermediate Orchestra will be able to take one-on-one private lessons for an additional fee with a professional on their instrument during class time or after school depending on availability!

Camerata Orchestra is an audition-based group.

• Camerata Orchestra is for students who have advanced experience playing a string instrument. Here, they will continue to develop their technique.

• This includes students that participated in 5th grade strings in elementary school.

• Camerata Orchestra moves quickly and requires students to practice every day.

• Camerata Orchestra students learn basic musicianship and small ensemble skills in a competitive setting.

• Students will solidify their techniques by the end of the year to have appropriate set up to enter Second + Third Year Ensembles.

• Camerata Orchestra students will have opportunities to perform in concerts throughout the year, Solo and Ensemble, and participate in several social events!
