2nd and 3rd Year Ensembles

Symphony Orchestra is an audition-based group.

• Symphony Orchestra serves as Strack Intermediate's Non-Varsity Ensemble. Symphony Orchestra students are primarily advanced 7th and 8th graders.
• Symphony Orchestra learns challenging repertoire in a fast-paced, competitive environment in preparation for high school.
• In addition to the ensemble instruction during the school day, Symphony Orchestra is required to attend sectionals rehearsal every week.
• Sectional rehearsals give us the opportunity to continue with skill development on each family of instruments and to do detail work on music that is not possible during a regular class period.
• All Symphony Orchestra members will participate in Winter and Spring Concerts, Solo and Ensemble Contest, the KISD Pre-UIL Festival, and the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest.
• Symphony Orchestra students may also participate in the TMEA All-Region Orchestra audition processes if they desire.
• Students wishing to do so must also attend the Chamber section rehearsals during the fall in order to work on the difficult audition music. This would be in addition to (not instead of) attendance at Chamber section rehearsals during that time.
• Students in Symphony Orchestra will be able to take one-on-one private lessons for an additional fee with a professional on their instrument during class time or after school depending on availability!

Chamber Orchestra is an audition-based group.

• Chamber Orchestra serves as Strack Intermediate's Varsity Ensemble. Advanced students perform challenging repertoire for various school events.
• The Chamber Orchestra is our top-performing ensemble made up of advanced students, the majority of which are in 8^th grade.
• In addition to the ensemble instruction during the school day, each student is required to attend one sectional rehearsal every week. Sectional rehearsals give us the opportunity to continue with skill development on each instrument and to do detail work on music that is not possible during a regular class period.
• All Chamber Orchestra members participate in the Fall, Winter and Spring Concerts, Solo & Ensemble and TMEA All-Region Orchestra auditions, KISD Pre-UIL Festival, and the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest as well as any competitive festivals.
• Although not required, private lessons are extremely important to have in preparation for the many individual competitions that students in this ensemble will participate in very early in the school year (TMEA All-Region Orchestras).
• Students in Chamber Orchestra will be able to take one-on-one private lessons for an additional fee with a professional on their instrument during class time or after school depending on availability!

Both Mrs. Thornton and Mr. Lara from Klein Collins High School Orchestra visits Strack from time to time and works with her future students!

We watch a lot of professionals perform their instrument!
