As a math enthusiast, I value calculus for the math content and its elegance. But for many students, it will provide a strong mathematical background for college and math-related careers. For even more, it will develop an ability to meet and overcome challenges-- regardless of choice of major or field.
I strongly believe that the mind can be developed. Just as one might choose an active lifestyle and work out to develop strength and fitness, so too can one through mental exertion and challenge develop the mind as well. I believe calculus can play a vital part in this development.
