The letterman jacket is a wearable award representation of a student's achievements in an organization.
LETTER JACKET
Awarded to any Choir student who earns the correct number of points.
MUSIC LYRE
Awarded to any Choir student who has previously lettered in Choir.
CHOIR LETTER
Awarded to any Choir student who has already lettered in another organization.
Qualifications for all students seeking to earn their letterman points:
A student must be an active participant of Choir
A student must attend all functions and activities
The student must demonstrate and maintain a positive attitude
The student must maintain satisfactory citizenship/conduct and academic average.
Freshmen must earn 10 points.
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors must earn 8 points.
Lettering surveys will be handed out after the final concert of the year, and students will receive their letterman jackets in October of the following school year. Juniors planning to receive their points for their fourth year of participation in choir will sign a contract of participation for the following school year, so they can receive their letterman jacket for their senior year. Failure to follow through with full senior year participation will result in the letterman jacket being returned to the directors.
Letter jackets are paid for by the school, but any additional patches or decorations are paid for by students.
Points System:
2 pts Second year participation in Choir
2 pts Third year participation in Choir
4 pts Fourth year participation in Choir
The following lettering opportunities are composite and do not carry over from one year to the next.
2 pts Attain membership in the TMEA All-Region Choir through audition.
4 pts Advanced to the Area audition in the process toward All-State level.
2 pts Attain membership into the TMEA All-State Choir.
3 pts Receive a first division (EXCELLENT) rating on a class I or II SOLO at the KISD Solo and Ensemble contest.
3 pts Receive a first division (EXCELLENT) rating on a class I or II ENSEMBLE at the KISD Solo and Ensemble contest.
