After we collected the kawakawa leaves we put them in olive oil for ten days so that the rongoā could infuse into the oil. We did another karakia so our kawakawa balm would have lots of rongoā.
Before we put the beeswax in the oil we had to cut the beeswax up into small pieces so we could get the right amount of beeswax.
We had to heat the olive oil for one hour and we had to keep the tempurature at 60c.
After we melted the beeswax we added it to the olive oil and then poured the kawakawa balm into little jars and waited for them to cool down.
We made 215 jars of kawakawa balm.
Whaea Kris gave us our labels and Whaea Brenda printed all the labels for us.
We got to put all the labels on all the jars.
Tauhou entered a science board into the science fair about how we made our kawakawa balm . Tauhou was one of the WINNERS!
