The SDGs or Sustainable Development Goals are 17 goals that are an urgent call for action. These 17 goals were adopted by the United Nations as a framework for global understanding and collaboration for collective action to create “peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.”
Use this unit to help students discover the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. These lesson plans will:
Introduce students to the SDGs in an interactive way and deepen their understanding through collaborative discussion
Help students see their own community through the lens of the global goals during a community walk
Support students to create an action plan and apply the global goals in their own community
Each lesson is built around the 5 Es and will guide students to Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate as they learn and apply the SDGs through project based work.
