Shenah Abdullah is an anthropologist and lecturer at the Kurdistan Institution. She has been conducting ethnographic research in the city of Slêmanî since 2008-. Her research focuses on oral history and archival research, as well as neoliberal reforms in the city of Slêmanî. Since 2011, she has been teaching at several departments at the University of Sulaimani: The Collge of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Basic Education, and the College of Humanities.
In January 2020, she was awarded a Nahrein Network Grant (University College London), to examine and digitalize local and British Colonial archives at the Zheen Archival and Research Center in Slêmanî, and to record the oral history of elderly visiting Zheen. The grant will continue in 2022 and will expand its focus. More on this research will be added in a near future.
