Peter is a former classroom teacher, having spent time in both Atlanta and St. Louis Public Schools. As a teacher and developmental reading specialist, he used technology extensively to differentiate instruction, help students make connections outside the classroom and track progress with formative assessments. Today, Peter works with school districts around the country on their implementation of G Suite for Education and Chromebooks as a Program Manager on the Google for Education team. Peter is an alumnus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Teach for America’s national teaching corps.
Dr. Tim Scott, Superintendent of Schools, Kiski Area School District
Dr. Scott began his career teaching high school social studies in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. He has been an administrator for almost twenty years, serving as middle and high school assistant principal, middle school and elementary principal, and curriculum and federal programs director. From 2011-2015, Dr. Scott was assistant superintendent with Southmoreland School District.
Dr. Scott earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Robert Morris University, a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Georgetown University, a Master of Arts in Teaching and Doctor of Education from the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Scott is a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Caisson Platoon of the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment. The primary mission of the “Old Guard” is to perform full honors funerals in Arlington National Cemetery.
Mr. Jason Lohr joined the Kiski Area School District in June 2000 as a classroom teacher in the Social Studies Department at the high school. He taught sociology and U.S. History and has held, throughout his tenure, the positions of class sponsor (9-12), assistant and head jr. high soccer coach, junior varsity softball coach, social studies department head, and Bible club sponsor.
In 2009, Mr. Lohr was named assistant principal intern at the Intermediate School and was later named assistant principal in the spring of 2010. In July 2010, Jason was named head principal of the Intermediate School and held that position until the spring of 2016.
Before joining the Kiski Area Cavaliers, Mr. Lohr had previously served the Jefferson County Board of Education as a special education teacher and assistant jr. high wrestling coach at Charles Town Junior High located in Charles Town, West Virginia.
He completed his Master of Education in School Administration with K-12 Principal Certification from California University of Pennsylvania in 2009. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (History) from Toccoa Falls College in 1998.
Mr. Lohr and his wife Sharon are proud parents of two sons, Noah and Micah.
Mr. Roland came to Kiski Area High School in December 2009. Prior to joining the Kiski Area team he spent 9 years teaching Physics and coaching football and wrestling at Franklin Regional High School. His administrative career began at Burrell High School where he served as an assistant principal for 3 years.
Mr. Roland earned a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Physics and Education from Duquesne University. An Oklahoma Borough resident, Mr. Roland is originally from West Mifflin and graduated from West Mifflin High School.
Mr. Roland resides in Oklahoma Boro with his wife Carla and two children, Taylor and Dominic.

Melissa Schaeffer teaches AP Calculus I, AP Calculus II, Computer Programming in Java, and Programming Android Apps in our Math Department. She is a 1992 Kiski graduate, Carnegie Mellon University alumna, and avid runner. She has worked at Kiski Area for 19 years and loves taking on new challenges associated with technology integration. Her team of students created the App for the Kiski Area Leadership Symposium which this website mirrors.
Shane Ross is a Junior during the 2016-2017 school year. He is the secretary of Access Club and a member of Engineering Club, Future Business Leaders of America and Key Club. He has taken computer programming with Java, along with Android apps and AutoCad. Shane plans on pursuing computer science after high school.
Brittany is a senior at Kiski Area High School. She is going to attend Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana starting in the Fall of 2017. While at Indiana Brittany will play on the Women’s Soccer team and will major in Computer Science. During high school Brittany has taken several STEM classes that made her develop her interest in Computer Science. Those classes include: Robotics, Engineering Applications, Computer Programming with Java, and Android Applications.
Jack Pellegrini is a senior. He is a member of the Wind Ensemble, Jazz A, Marching Band, and Cavalier Percussion. After graduating, he plans to pursue music composition and computer science. He also is a member of NHS, Social Studies Club, and Yearbook.
Brandon Towle is Senior at Kiski Area High School. He plans to major in computer science at Seaton Hill University. He has taken Computer Programming with Java and Android Apps in high school.
Colin Sames is a Junior at Kiski Area High School. He plans to attend Penn State with a major in computer engineering. He plays the tuba in the Kiski Area Marching Band and is a two time Monroeville Regional Champion and a Grand National Semi Finalist with Bands of America. He is a part of Key Club, Link Krew, and NHS. Colin took Computer Programming with Java and Android Apps.
Beau Poydence is a sixteen year-old sophomore at Kiski Area High School. He has taken multiple courses in the arts such as Graphics Design, Art I, Photoshop I, and he has recently started taking a Photoshop II course. He also has some experience with programming due to taking a programming with Java course during his freshmen year. He has interests in programming, and both digital and physical art. During his free time at home he often draws, and uses Photoshop to create his own works instead of strictly drawing and using editing programs for school purposes. Beau has interest in careers based around digital imaging, and art.
Regina Strong has worked at Kiski for seven years as a Biology Teacher within our Science Department. During the 2016-2017 school year Regina is co-teaching with Erin Witucki. They have made it a priority to utilize Technology to benefit teaching practices and assessment. Regina is a Level 1 Certified Google Educator.
Erin Witucki has worked at Kiski for three years as a Biology Teacher within our Science Department. During the 2016-2017 school year Erin is co-teaching with Regina Strong. They have made it a priority to utilize Technology to benefit teaching practices and assessment. Erin is a Level 1 Certified Google Educator.
Anna Eichner has worked at Kiski since 2006 in the Social Studies Department. She has taught a variety of Social Studies Courses during her career including Early American History and Contemporary America. Since 2013 Anna has worked with a Co-Teacher from the Special Education Department, Maia Rodriguez. Together they have focused on benefiting students using Technology.
Maia Rodriguez is a Learning Support teacher working primarily within the Social Studies Department at Kiski Area High School. She has co-taught several subjects with Ms. Anna Eichner and Mr. Matt Snedecor during her three years at Kiski, including US History I and II and Contemporary America, as well as working in the Learning Support and Alternative Education Classrooms.
Maia received her Masters in Education from the University of Pittsburgh, with dual certification in Secondary Social Studies and Special Education. She received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota and spent several years prior to graduate school helping to run after school enrichment programs in Homestead and Lawrenceville, PA. She enjoys finding new ways for struggling learners to access and understand content.
Jim Christie has taught at Kiski Area for twenty years in the Social Studies Teacher. During his tenure at Kiski, Mr. Christie has taught a variety of courses including American History, World Cultures, and he currently teaches Modern World History. In conjunction with Gigapan Technology made available to our district through the Alle-Kiski Best Practices Collaborative a Veteran's Website telling the stories of Kiski Area community graduates is in the process of being built. This cross-curricular, multi-year project is an important piece of the immersive experience students receive while in his class.
Holly Jacobs has taught at Kiski for fourteen years in the Language Arts Department. Holly is also the Broadcast Media Teacher and is responsible for our Good Morning Kiski Live Stream on YouTube. Holly will describe the cross-curricular aspect of the Veteran's Website of Community Outreach.
Dean Ridgeway teaches Manufacturing, Advanced Materials, Automation, Robotics, and Engineering Applications in the Technology Education department and also serves as the department chair.
Since his hire in 1992 he has had the opportunity to help re-structure a very traditional Industrial Arts program into an award winning Technology Education program. Over the years the department has continued to evolve and now offers 14 different course offerings giving students real world experiences and opportunities every day.
Dean owns and runs Ridgeway's Machine Maintenance, a company that services various technology education machinery and equipment.
Kelsey Sofaly is a junior at Kiski Area High School. She is a member of Key Club and National Honors Society. She has been a member of the Kiski Area Varsity softball team since her freshman year. She is in the AP and Honors programs offered at the school. Kelsey is undecided on a major or what college she will attend, although she plans to complete a degree related to Math or Science.
Kylie Zaffina is an eleventh grader at Kiski Area High School. She is a member of the Varsity Tennis team, Key club, Social Studies club, National Honors Society, and a photographer on the high school Yearbook Staff. Kylie enjoys learning about Biology, Chemistry, Sociology, and Political Sciences and will pursue her interests in college.
Faith Gongaware is a senior who is currently involved in five AP classes and numerous extracurriculars. She is president of NHS and Key Club, regional president of FBLA, station manager of GMK, and is on the varsity golf team. She participates in the fall drama and spring musical and is on senior class committee. Faith plans to attend a four year university on a pre-law track in global affairs.
Max Mercurio plans to attend Case Western Reserve University to major in chemical engineering. He has taken AP chemistry, AP calculus 2, AP physics, engineering design, engineering applications, and computer programming with Java. He is the National Honor Society treasurer, a member of the math team, engineering club, key club, and student council. Max works at the local YMCA as a fitness monitor and a youth program staff member.
Grace Fowler is a junior, and she is taking 5 AP/college courses this year. She is also involved in several choirs, including Show Choir and Jazz Choir as well as musical. She is also a member of Key Club, Yearbook Staff, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, and Student Council. Next year, Grace hopes to apply to a four-year college to pursue a degree in sociology with a minor in social work and business.
Becky Minda is a junior, and she is enrolled in 4 AP/college courses this year. She is also involved in several choirs, including Show Choir and Jazz Choir as well as musical. She is also a member of Key Club, Cavalier Leadership Council, National Honor Society, Link Krew, and Girls Varsity Golf. Next year, Becky hopes to apply to a four-year college to pursue a degree in pre-veterinary medicine and continue on to own her own practice one day.
Jeff Wilkinson is a junior here at Kiski. He am a member of the Track Team, Soccer Team, and the National Honors Society along with our Academic Quiz Team, Link Krew, Jazz Choir. Jeff plans to attend a four year University and is undecided regarding a major at this time.
Mr. Tedorski came to the Kiski Area School District as a Business Education teacher in 1993. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration and his teaching certification at Robert Morris College, and continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh, earning a Masters in Education in Instructional Design and Technology, along with certification as a Technology Specialist. He has also obtained administrative certification as both an elementary and secondary school principal from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility from California Univeristy of PA.
Mr. DeLuca came to the Kiski Area School District as a Technology Specialist in 2002. He earned his B.S. in Computer Systems Analysis at Saint Vincent College and a Masters in Education in Instructional Design and Technology from Seton Hill University. He has also obtained a certification in Executive Leadership Strategies from the University Of Notre Dame. He currently has certification from Google as a Google Administrator and Level 1 and 2 Educator.
David Williamson is an employee of the Kiski Area School District, where he serves as the Social Studies Department chairperson, sponsors several clubs and organizations, and coaches basketball for the district. He graduated from Robert Morris University and earned his Master’s from Wilkes University. David is happily married with two children and currently lives in the Leechburg Area. In his spare time, David enjoys attending sporting events, spending time with his family, listening to his favorite music playlists, and working out.

Google Educator Level 2 certified teacher, Sarah Wagner, has been teaching business and computer classes in the high school for four years. She is a Key Club co-advisor and advisor for the Freshmen and Sophomore classes. Sarah graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. Ed. in Business Education and a Masters in Business Administration. She lives in Pittsburgh with her fiance and cats.
Lisa Blake teaches Gifted Reading 7 and Reading 8 at Kiski Area Intermediate School. She has been a teacher for the past 25 years serving in the capacity of an elementary classroom teacher, reading specialist, literacy coach and middle school Reading teacher. Lisa has the had opportunity to present to school districts all over Western, Pennsylvania regarding the topic of Reading in the Content Areas. She has been awarded the Gift of Time Award for mentoring many new teachers within the district, and in 2004 was awarded the district's “Teacher of the Year” award. In her spare time, Lisa is an avid marathon runner. She resides in Plum with her husband Randy and son Tyler.
Ms. Deanna Maag has been teaching at Kiski Area School District for the past ten years. She is currently teaching sixth-grade humanities, a hybrid class which includes history, grammar, writing, and current events, at Kiski Area Upper Elementary. Deanna is also the co-sponsor of the Yearbook Club. Additionally, she also designs and edits curriculum for a nationwide, online school. She received her Bachelor’s from Clarion University in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education. She went onto Indiana University of Pennsylvania to receive her Masters in Education and a Reading Specialist certification. Ms. Maag enjoys seeking out innovative ways to incorporate technology into the classroom. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, researching, writing, and she absolutely loves traveling, especially to the beach.
Justin Mancine teaches eighth grade physical science and co-teaches seventh grade life science at Kiski Area Intermediate School. Justin believes Google has proven to be a great tool for both teachers and students in the classroom. He has challenged his students to incorporate technology into their learning in several ways, including writing formal lab reports on Google Docs, creating graphs on Google Sheets, designing websites about Newton’s laws and using apps that connect to Google Classroom.
Michele Thomas is the STEM Specialist at the Kiski Area Upper Elementary. Her role consists of designing and teaching integrated lab lessons, writing grants, and organizing STEM presenters and events. She also teaches a session of Technology Applications that introduces students to the G Suite and how to integrate those features into their classwork. In addition, she is a co-sponsor of the Science Club. Michele is a Level 1 Certified Google Educator.
