Information on documenting your reflection, and applying for reimbursement of professional learning event costs.
Step 5: Reflection and Reimbursement
Following the conference, online or face-to-face PD, complete the PD Reflection Form.
Take a picture of your receipts, a screenshot of your approval email and a certificate of participation/completion, attached them to your divisional DocsWave for Personal PD Funds Reimbursement Form. If the form is submitted by the 10th of the month, you can expect to receive reimbursement on that month's paycheck. If the form is submitted after the 10th, then you can expect to receive reimbursement on the following month's paycheck.
Receipts for flights (including your boarding pass, taxi food, etc) must be included in your DocsWave form. If you do not have receipts, you will not get reimbursed.
Professional Learning Funds:
All teachers receive an annual PD allotment, that differs depending on your years at KISJ.
All teachers receive a maximum of three travel days for approved professional development activities. Requests for external PD must be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to an event.
Teachers may borrow against future PD funds subject to the approval of the Director of Teaching and Learning and Head of School, if funds are available. Future funds may not be used for graduate credit reimbursement.
In the event an employee is dismissed or resigns voluntarily prior to completion of full contract term, the teacher will be required to return the PD money spent.
The Professional Learning budget may not be used in the final 6 months of the employee’s contract.
New contracts begin on July 21 of every year.
PD funds are not approved for IB trainings and work towards re-certification.
Graduate Coursework: KISJ encourages teachers’ professional development through the completion of graduate level university courses leading to advanced degrees. Graduate tuition will be granted based on specific course work and its applicability to faculty roles and responsibilities at KISJ. Course syllabi and descriptions must be submitted to and approved by the DOTL, in consultation with the Division Principal. The DOTL and Division Principal reserve the right to require other professional development as identified for faculty growth. Borrowing from future PD funds for graduate tuition reimbursement is not permitted and tuition reimbursement is not retroactive. As with all PD, proof of successful course completion and receipts are required for reimbursement.
