Roy Kim (Class of 2016)
Cornell University - Princeton University / Civil and Environmental Engineering
“After the completion of my Master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, I entered the world of structural engineering to explore my passion for building designs. I am currently working as a structural engineer in the city of New York, and I have been involved in miscellaneous projects that are built with concrete, steel and timber. I am also very passionate about achieving sustainability and carbon neutrality through technology and value-engineering.”
Ji Yoon Lee (Class of 2018)
University of Southern California / Biochemistry & Piano
“Hi! I graduated from USC in May 2022 as a biochemistry major & piano minor. I loved being in a sorority, singing in an A Cappella, going to football games, and skateboarding around campus. I have been working as an international sales & marketing representative in a Korean chemical manfacturing company in Seoul since August 2023. I hope to continue with this job for at least two more years before seeking another big step for the next stage of my life. Being a member of society (and making money of course) has been very different from being a student, and I have learned SO much for the past year. I still hold my best memories from KISJ and maintain the best friendships from that time. Otherwise, I am enjoying my time with my family and my church community these days, of course. :)”
Moonseong Kim (Class of 2018)
Purdue University / Mechanical Engineering
“The first thing on my mind when I graduated from KISJ was to avoid going to graduate school. I wanted to jump right into the industry and make an immediate impact on my everyday life. However, during my college journey, I had the opportunity to witness several individuals conducting research and developing real-world applications. This experience led me to explore the world of research. I engaged in multiple undergraduate research projects and eventually made the decision to pursue a Ph.D. focused on Li-ion battery technology at ETSL Purdue. While this path may not be the best fit for everyone, I highly recommend trying your hand at research during your undergraduate years – it's a valuable experience that won't harm you.”
Jongeun Seong (Class of 2020)
University of Sydney - Seoul National University / International Relations & Chinese Studies, International Studies
“I am currently a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in international studies at Seoul National University. My research interests are in emerging security issues in international relations, such as cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, as well as traditional security concerns, including nuclear non-proliferation and arms control in the Indo-Pacific region. After graduating from Korea International School, Jeju Campus, I earned my bachelor's degree with distinction in international relations and Chinese studies from the University of Sydney. In the near future, I plan to pursue a Ph.D. and work as a researcher in the field of international relations and security.”
Caroline Kim (Class of 2022)
Emory University / Biology
“In college, my path has been all about wholeheartedly diving into a double major in biology and human health on the pre-med track. But what really stands out as an incredible moment was when I got the chance to be part of the Emory Medical Brigades trip to Honduras. That experience was like a burst of understanding about how healthcare works and how diverse cultures influence it. I was right in the middle of a whole different healthcare system, working alongside local experts, and it opened my eyes wide to the global health issues we face. This journey has really sealed the deal for me – I'm absolutely committed to the medical field, and I've developed this deep passion for healthcare that's grounded in real facts and information.”
