Course Description:
AP Human Geography, as a course, is designed to introduce students to the systematic study of patterns and processes that have shaped human understanding, use, and alteration of Earth’s surface. Students will learn to employ spatial concepts and landscape analysis to examine human socioeconomic organization and its environmental consequences. They will also learn about the methods and tools geographers use in their research and applications.
Course Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of the course, students should have developed skills that enable them to:
•Interpret maps and analyze geospatial data.
•Understand and explain the implications of associations and networks among phenomena in places.
•Recognize and interpret the relationships among patterns and processes at different scales of analysis.
• Define regions and evaluate the regionalization process.
• Characterize and analyze changing interconnections among places, inclusive of world regions, scales of analysis, etc.

About me
Jermaine Watson is currently an AP Human Geography instructor with KIPP Sunnyside High School. He has previously taught AP Human Geography, World History, Civics, Journey to Career, Louisiana History, US History and English I. He has served as an advisor to Student Government, Yearbook and the Speech & Debate team.
Watson is excited about teaching AP Human Geography because the course allows him and students to explore some of the root causes of the issues currently plaguing society today. It also offers students the voice and opportunity to address these issues in a constructive manner.
