The Georgia Milestones Assessment System is a comprehensive assessment system spanning grades 3 through high school. Georgia Milestones measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards in English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
Students in grades 3 through 8 take End-of-Grade (EOG) assessments in English language arts and mathematics. Students in grades 5 and 8 take the EOG assessment in science, and students in grade 8 take the EOG assessment in social studies. High school or middle school students enrolled in courses designated by the State Board of Education take End-of-Course (EOC) assessments.
Georgia Milestones is designed to provide students with information about their achievement and their readiness for their next level of learning – be it the next grade, the next course, or postsecondary endeavor. Parents, schools and districts, the public, and policy makers can use the results to monitor progress and support the improvement of Georgia's education system.
iReady Testing is a powerful diagnostic tool designed to assess students’ academic performance and growth accurately. The adaptive nature of the test means that if a student answers questions correctly, the assessment becomes progressively more challenging. Conversely, if a student struggles, the test adjusts to provide easier questions. This dynamic approach helps pinpoint each student’s specific needs by identifying both strengths and skill gaps across various subjects and domains.
One of the major benefits of iReady Testing is its efficiency. By adapting to the student’s performance level, it eliminates time spent on questions that are either too easy or too difficult. This ensures that the assessment is focused on uncovering the student’s earliest point of unfinished learning, making the process quicker and more productive.
In addition to being time-saving, iReady provides accurate tracking of student growth over time. Because of its adaptive format, even small gains in learning can be detected, giving educators meaningful insights into student progress. The results from i-Ready are particularly useful for informing differentiated instruction. Teachers can use the data to guide instruction for the whole class, small groups, or individual interventions. This is especially beneficial in classrooms using differentiated instruction or Response to Intervention (RTI) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) frameworks.
