Is my start date July 24, 2025?
Yes. Once you receive your onboarding clearance email from HR, this date marks the beginning of our experience called Big KIPPster Kickoff. This event will welcome you into the KIPP SoCal family, provide valuable training on anti-racism work in our schools, orient you to our approach to teaching and learning, and connect you to other new hires in fun and engaging ways.
Exception: If you are a New Hire working at our San Diego school, KIPP Adelante. The start date for new hires at Adelante is July 25th.
When will I be needed at my school site in-person?
Once cleared from your appointment with HR on 7/24, you will attend professional development at your school’s facility on Friday 7/25 unless otherwise directed by your school leadership.
When will I get my first paycheck?
Based on our payroll processing schedule, if hired during Big KIPPster Kickoff, your first paycheck will be August 15. If you were offered a relocation bonus, you will receive that amount in full in your first or second paycheck. If you were offered a signing bonus, you will receive half the amount in December and the final half in June. Remember that bonuses are taxable income.
What about my benefits?
You can sign up for benefits starting on your first day of employment. You will have 30 calendar days from your hire date to enroll. Once complete, the effective date of your elections will be the 1st of the month following your hire date.
Please view an overview of our benefits here.
Can I negotiate my salary?
We do not negotiate salary once an offer letter is sent. Please review our public salary scale for more information on how your salary was determined. The reason why we don’t negotiate salary is for equitable paying practices across the region.
I can no longer join the KIPP SoCal team this year. Am I bound by a contract?
No, your offer letter is not a contract. KIPP SoCal is an at-will employer. We would love to hear more as to why you are no longer able to join our Team. Please contact your recruiter to opt-out of your offer if you choose to, and to learn more on how can we best support you during this time.
I am having trouble getting all of my credentialing documents by my deadline, what do I do?
Submit all documents you can by your deadline. If not, please communicate that to your credentialing analyst and they will discuss next steps with you there.
When will I know what grade level I will be in?
This is something you will discuss with your School Leader. Most schools set their grade level assignments by your start date.
Where can I find my school's calendar?
You will receive this information during your school orientation day.

I would like my child to enroll in my KIPP School, how do I go about that?
The enrollment process for anyone wanting to enroll their child in a KIPP School is the same. However, KIPP SoCal employees are given preference. Given that we are currently past the application window, your child would be eligible next school year. Some schools have openings, but not all. To learn more about enrollment, visit our Enroll page.
Do you offer relocation assistance?
We offer relocation assistance on a case by case basis, which is discussed at time of offer. Due to schools budgets, bonuses are not guaranteed. If you still want to inquire about the bonus and are approved, your recruiter will send you a new offer letter that reflects your relocation bonus. Please reach out to your recruiter with your request and they will move forward from there.
Do you have a list of neighborhoods that might be geographically convenient to my school that I can investigate?
