Project : Juxtaposition SPRING 2020
In this project you will get away from the idea of the single image and instead explore the dynamic of juxtaposed images. Digital imaging allows us not only to manipulate and adjust a single image for maximum effect, but also it lends itself to the assembly of whole images into artistic compositions. Create 1-4 images, in which 2 or 3 images are juxtaposed side by side, vertically, horizontally, or layered onto each other.
• Consider the visual dynamics that arise when juxtaposing images, taking into consideration:
texture – scale – subject matter
• Consider the thematic or conceptual dynamic between the images. Do the images dialog more than just visually? What connotations does the subject matter of each image carry and how do they relate?
• Use adjustment layers and other manipulations to enhance intended relationship between images. For example, adjust hue to create an echo of color, lighten or darken to create tension or balance of values, burn in to create focus, etc. Apply any effects thoughtfully so they enhance expressive potential of composition
