Hello! I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year! I have been teaching for 16 years in STEM, elementary classrooms, in special education, and as a math and behavior interventionist.
I hold a master’s degree in Educational Technology, but my true passion lies in promoting PLAY and putting books—not devices—into children’s hands. As a former Tinkergarten teacher, I believe that children thrive when they have the freedom to explore, get messy, and learn through hands-on discovery.
I love living in Roscoe with my husband and my three daughters, ages nine, seven, and one.
We spend our time together at the beach, reading books, playing basketball in the driveway, catching fireflies, and exploring in the woods.
We have an enthusiastic golden retriever puppy named Copper and a naughty, mice-catching cat named Roo.
I have 15 years of certified teaching expertise including various educational roles in the areas of elementary classroom instruction, special education, STEM instruction, and technology coaching.
In the most recent school year, I founded and ran a nature-based preschool in Roscoe and ran Tinkergarten classes. Preschoolers need to explore, MOVE, run, play, discover, act silly, roll on the ground, collect rocks, and breath in the fresh air. Luckily, all these amazing experiences can be experienced in a most accessible manner: OUTDOORS! Time outdoors will play a dominant role in the children's experience in preschool this year.
As a teacher, my role is to ensure ALL children in my classroom are safe, loved, and valued.
PLAY is the cornerstone of early childhood education, fostering language development, social growth, and cultivating a genuine enthusiasm for school and the process of learning!
I am an advocate for outdoor, sensory-stimulating experiences. "Children cannot bounce off the walls if we remove the walls" -Erin Denny
My literacy approach is firmly grounded in the continuously evolving Science of Reading research, while also fostering a deep passion for reading through engaging read-aloud sessions and in-depth author studies.
My approach to science education is based on cultivating curiosity, promoting open-ended exploration, and providing children with the necessary space and tools to discover joy in learning and art.
My approach to mathematics instruction revolves around hands-on, practical experiences that connect to nature, real-world tools, and the inherent mathematical concepts present in our surroundings.
We are going to have a GREAT year in preschool!
