Communication

This is our top priority! Establishing strong communication channels is incredibly crucial, and I wholeheartedly encourage all families to engage in open dialogue with me, Ms. Emily. For messaging, announcements, and photo-sharing, we will primarily utilize SeeSaw. During orientation, families will receive a QR code and website link to access the platform. SeeSaw enables private and group messaging, as well as communication through video and photo sharing. Additionally, I will be available for face-to-face meetings whenever necessary, beyond scheduled conferences. It is essential for families to promptly sign up for their SeeSaw accounts. Thank you!

School arrival

Transportation

If your child will not be riding the school bus, contact the bus company: (815) 624-0294.

In the event that you need to modify your child's transportation arrangement at the end of the school day, please contact the main Ledgewood office at (815) 623-2837. Alternatively, you can send a SeeSaw message to Ms. Emily, and it will be promptly forwarded to the office. For any concerns specifically regarding your child's bus, please reach out to First Student at (815) 624-0294.

OUTDOOR PLAY

We will engage in daily outdoor play sessions! Kindly ensure that your child comes prepared with weather-appropriate attire. As seasons change, the requirements may vary, so I will regularly update families with reminders to keep everyone informed. In the case of storms and extreme temperatures, we will opt for indoor activities to ensure everyone's safety and well-being.

Snacks

Every child will receive a daily snack and beverage, which will be provided by us. Families are not required to send any additional snacks for their child.

Birthdays

In our classroom, we will joyfully celebrate children's birthdays with a delightful song and a special activity. If you wish to send in treats, kindly ensure they are small non-food items. Alternatively, if you choose to send in a food item, please make sure it is pre-packaged and accompanied by the nutrition label. We will also have a dedicated day to celebrate summer birthdays. Rest assured, we will ensure that each child's birthday is marked as a special occasion!

Volunteers

Parents have the opportunity to sign up for volunteer roles during orientation. In case you miss the sign-up, please feel free to send a SeeSaw message to Ms. Emily expressing your interest. Volunteer opportunities may include tasks such as creating play dough, cutting or assembling materials at home, and assisting with special events.

Conferences

Throughout the academic year, we will conduct two family/teacher conferences: one in the fall and another in winter. Families will have the opportunity to sign up for their preferred time slot during the back-to-school orientation. As the conference dates approach, Ms. Emily will send out timely reminders to ensure everyone is well-prepared.

Bathroom

We will incorporate regular bathroom breaks into our class routine, ensuring that children have the opportunity to maintain personal hygiene. In the event of an accident, we will ensure that children are cleaned up and provided with fresh clothing. Conveniently, the bathrooms are located directly across the hallway from our classroom, ensuring easy access for the children whenever necessary. You can help at home by working on zipping, buttoning, and overall bathroom independence.

Photos

Families will have the choice to grant permission for their child to be featured in class photographs, which will be shared exclusively through our private SeeSaw communication tool and on this website. The necessary form for granting permission can be found among the back-to-school orientation documents.

Progress Reports

Parents will receive progress updates regarding their child's development at the end of each trimester, specifically in November, February, and on the last day of school. Additionally, students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) will receive updates specifically pertaining to their IEP goals and objectives.
