Middle school students are the focus of this summer activity. Students entering 7th, 8th, and 9th grade are welcome to be a part of the 17th annual all middle school marching band! Participating schools include Kingsford, Iron Mountain, Niagara, Florence, Norway, and more! Homeschool students have also joined. All are welcome!
Off to a good start, middle school students will learn the basics of marching in parade formation. Students will learn how to march in step, keep their spacing, and hold their instruments up while playing on the move. Students who are entering high school will gain valuable experience for their high school marching bands. If a school does not have a marching band, they will be able to experience this unique form of music. Finally, those attending this camp will keep their musical skills in top form.
Teamwork is the key to a successful marching band. With a combined 16 years of teaching experience, Kingsford's music directors, Mr. Jacob Barnby, Mr. Marc Rose, and Mr. Curt Rogan will oversee team building games, teach leader/servant skills, and as always, work with the students to learn exciting music for marching.
Other items of interest: Campers perform in the Negaunee Pioneer Parade. Families are invited and encouraged to attend the parade to see the results of the 3-day workshop!
Rehearsals will run from 9:00am - 4:00pm at Kingsford High School. The day will look like this...Â
