Autumn Newsletter

Another term has passed at Kings Academy College Park and it has been a whirlwind. The children have settled well into the Junior school and have shown they can adapt to the change.

We have been working extremely hard to ensure our children work as a team in all aspects of their learning. All of year 3 have learnt so much but lets have a look at some of the highlights!

As Writers we have been planning and writing our own journey stories based on a learnt text

As Mathematicians we have used resources to solve addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems

As Deep Thinkers we have been looking at the symbol of candles and what light means to us. We have then linked this to the Christmas Festival.

Giuseppe Arcimboldo

This term in Art, year 3 have been studying an artist called Giuseppe Arcimboldo who uses fruit and vegetbales to create pictures. We have looked at different pencil strokes and techniques such as cross hatching and stippling.

As Artists ...

Once the children had learnt about the artist and had some practises, they then used fruit and vegetbales to create a self portrait. Charles has used a banana for the mouth and runner beans for eyebrows!

PE in the cold

Mr Lewis has been excellent this term, teaching year 3 a variety of different sports. Even when its cold, the children have persevered and shown incredible teamwork. Jude is showing he is using all the techniques and skills during a dodgeball lesson!

Handwriting

This term we have been practicing our handwriting and ensuring we keep all our work presentable. One child who has really stood out is Jackson. He has made a huge improvement with his writing and presentation. Miss Lumabas is extremely proud of his effort and determination.

Anti-Bullying Week

In year 3 we have focused on what it takes to be a good friend. The children have been able to discuss the qualities of a good friend. We then looked at the effects of bullying and how  we can help within our school.  We then showed team work to create a piece of art that is now in our year 3 corridor.
