GCSE Spanish Speaking Practice

Here you will find a range of resources to help you succeed in all three tasks of the Spanish GCSE speaking exam.

TASK 1 - ROLE-PLAY:

• The role play is an interaction requiring you to ask and answer questions, to exchange information and to use different registers (either tú and usted)

• The role play lasts between 1 and 1.5 minutes at the Foundation tier and between 2 and 2.5 minutes at the Higher tier

• The total marks you can achieve for the role play task is 10

TASK 2 - PICTURE TASK:

• This part of the speaking assessment allows you to describe and narrate events, give information, express, justify and exchange opinions. You will need to refer to past, present and future events in this part of the assessment at both Foundation and Higher tiers, using different time expressions

• The picture task lasts between 2.5 and 3 minutes at the Foundation tier and between 3 and 3.5 minutes at the Higher tier

• The total marks you can achieve for the role play task is 24

TASK 3 - GENERAL CONVERSATION:

• The conversation is based on two different themes. The first theme is based on the topic chosen by you in advance of the assessment. The second theme is selected by your teacher from a choice of two themes allocated by Edexcel

• The conversation task lasts between 3.5 and 4.5 minutes at the Foundation tier and between 5 and 6 minutes at the Higher tier

• The total marks you can achieve for the role play task is 36

Print off or download the "General Conversation" booklet and work your way through the questions, answering them in as much detail as possible. This will also help you with the Spanish Writing GCSE paper.

Use the "Useful Spanish GCSE Structures" document to really enhance your answers and aim for those higher grades.

Your teacher will mark your answers and make suggestions, where necessary.
