Students from Year 9 to Year 13 had the opportunity to attend a fantastic Apprenticeship fair held at King Ethelbert School which was well supported by businesses local and from afar. Employers from the RAF, Army, Navy, police, NHS, WW.Martin, Mears, RWE, DWP, Dreamland, Home Office, South Eastern trains were just some of the companies who joined us.
We also welcomed students from Ursuline College, Hartsdown Academy, Laleham Gap and members from the local community.
Thank you to everyone who was involved, it was a brilliant success.
5th February 2025 - Royal Navy visit
Our Year 8 and Year 10 students were very lucky to have been selected to take part in a challenge day with the Royal Navy. The day included learning about leadership skills, working together as a team, finding out what life is like in the forces, the different roles available in the forces and the different routes in, such as apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships.
The students had a brilliant time and were certainly inspired by officers who ran the event.
Taster sessions at Broadstairs East Kent College 2024-2025
Electrical Installation - taster session
Meeting some ex-KES students enjoying their apprenticeships and college courses
Taster session in computing
Taster session in carpentry, thoroughly enjoyed by all students
To support your child further, please discuss with them what jobs they would like to do in the future, what courses are they thinking of and what their plans are. All students will have access to an appointment with our independent careers advisor.
There will be open days coming up and it strongly advised that students go along to them.
From November, students will be able to book an interview for the course that they are interested in and it is advisable that students apply to more that one education provider.
Once a student knows which course they would like to do, they MUST go back into their Kent Choices website and accept the offer.
Any questions, please contact Sarah Biggs (Careers Leader) on sarahbiggs@kingethelbert.kent.sch.uk

The UK Creative Careers Fair Event at Dreamland - 12th July 2023
Our year 12 BTEC Lv 3 Art & Design students were lucky enough to be invited to the UKCF Careers Fair held at Dreamland Margate. This event offers workshops, seminars and lectures on careers in the creative industries.
The students attended a symposium delivered by Chris Kenna founder and CEO of Brand advance group where a panel of guest speakers including the VP of sales for Warner Music discussed strategies for the use of responsible advertising strategies using the latest technologies and social media. We then had a seminar with Jordan Rossi from Rankin Creative delivering tips and ideas on how to respond to a photographic brief. The last seminar was delivered by Creative Director Elliott Starr and was focused on how to unlock your creative potential.
We were then able to take part in interviews and practical workshops and it was great for me to see how confident our students were engaging with this.
The students and I were amazed at the calibre of business who took part in the event such as Saatchi & Saatchi and Dentsu Creative. It was incredibly informative and helpful for students to talk to people who work in the creative industries and find out what kind of roles are available.
Thank you to Mrs Edwards for helping to arrange this trip on short notice!

Responsible Business - Lewis Silkin - Thursday 15th June 2023 - 2pm
Lewis Silkin is a Law firm in London that King Ethelbert School has been working closely with. Sam Mileham and Jessie Ke have completed their Y12 work experience at their offices in London. Jessie and Emily Knell have been involved in a mentoring programme with employees of the organisation, where they have worked on writing CVs, developing personal statements for university and providing knowledge regarding employment in the Law industry as well as advice about apprenticeships, university and other areas of the business.
On Thursday I was invited to speak to Lewis Silkin colleagues across the organisation about my experience of working with the Law firm and the support they have provided for our students. Paul, Jessie’s mentor, also spoke about the fantastic work they have been doing collaboratively. Lewis Silkin works with a number of other education providers and some of their work focuses on social mobility and improving opportunities for our young people.
I look forward to continuing to work with Lewis Silkin over the next academic year.

A successful day for year 10 students to improve their employability skills!! The Army and Kent Ambulance Service delivered engaging workshops, as well as students taking part in one-to-one interviews. These interviews were great to improve confidence and communications skills. There was also a session to develop team building/problem solving skills, and a fantastic mini careers fair which enabled small group conversations to take place with various employers and education providers. Thank you so much to EBP for organising the event and to all the employers/education providers that gave up their time to support our event!
