Trout are very sensitive fish and require a lot of maintenance and care. Before the eggs even arrived we were busy monitoring the water chemistry and culturing bacteria. We needed to establish the bacteria to help maintain healthy nitrogen levels for the fish.
Here you will find the daily tank data as measured by students and Mrs. Jardine.
So far this portion of the project has been the responsibility of our 8th grade scientists. They have become experts on the nitrogen cycle and which nitrogen compounds are toxic to our trout.
